Pathways to Teaching for Non-Education Majors

Are you passionate about working with young people but didn’t major in Education? You can still become a teacher—and there are multiple pathways designed specifically for college graduates from all academic backgrounds. Join us for an interactive information session that outlines clear, accessible routes into the classroom, whether you’re interested in public, private, or Catholic school environments.

This session will provide an overview of:

Teacher Certification Program (TCP) at Providence College
Learn how the TCP offers a structured pathway to initial teacher certification for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field. We’ll discuss program requirements, coursework, field experiences, licensure outcomes, and how TCP prepares you to transition confidently into 6–12 teaching roles.

Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT)
Discover how PACT combines graduate-level teacher preparation at Providence College with full-time teaching placements in Catholic schools. Participants will learn about the two-year service-oriented residency model, community living, cohort support, and the opportunity to earn a master’s degree while gaining hands-on classroom experience.

Opportunities in Independent Schools
Not all independent schools require state certification. We’ll introduce you to the Carney, Sandoe & Associates (CS&A) portal, a national recruitment platform that connects candidates with teaching and administrative positions in independent schools, as well as the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) job board and career resources. These tools are ideal for graduates seeking teaching roles that value strong content knowledge, coaching ability, and a commitment to students—regardless of major.

Whether you’re exploring teaching as a long-term career, considering a service-based pathway, or simply curious about how your academic background can translate to the classroom, this session will give you the clarity and direction you need to take the next step.

*Open to all majors. No prior teaching experience required!
